ABOUT US

           Hi!  We’re Katy and Beth, sisters who were blessed to grow up in a home full of siblings and books.  We believe that good stories are essential to a rich and delightful childhood. However, it takes time to sift through the expanse of literature that surrounds us to find titles that will teach our children to love that which is good, true, and beautiful.

             With a Classical, Christian approach, we have compiled a list of our favorite chapter books to share with you.  We hope you enjoy browsing the shelves at Plumfield, and find an answer to your child's most delightful question of all: "What should I read next?"

           Why "Perusing Plumfield"?  You may remember the lovable and incorrigible Jo from Louisa May Alcott's Little Women.  After Jo inherits the estate at Plumfield, she converts it into a school for boys, and thus a sequel is born: Little Men.  Plumfield soon becomes a home where hearts and minds are nourished, and children grow into hearty, upstanding adults; a place of laughter and warmth, where life's difficult but important lessons are learned with gentleness, Plumfield is what we desire for our own homes.   On this difficult quest to create an environment in which our young ones will flourish, we would be remiss to ignore one of our best aids on the journey: wholesome books that will widen our child's worldview and delight their soul.

"I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten;

even so, they have made me."

- Ralph Waldo Emerson
